John Cashin is an ARIAS Certified Arbitrator and he has been affiliated with ARIAS-U.S. for over 20 years. He is an active member of the organization’s Law Committee and his analyses of major U.S. law governing arbitration have appeared in ARIAS-U.S. Quarterly. He is also a member of the Insurance Panel of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR) Panel of Distinguished Neutrals, a group of lawyers, former judges, public officials, and academics committed to offering ADR services based on best practices and model procedures.
Mr. Cashin’s approach to arbitration also benefits from his past participation in every aspect of the process from a variety of perspectives, including by overseeing proceedings as counsel for involved parties, preparing witnesses, and testifying as both a fact witness and an expert witness. His expertise on insurance law, litigation, and arbitration has been solicited for legislative and expert witness testimony before New York State regulatory authorities, U.S. District Courts, and arbitration panels.
As a veteran of the global insurance/reinsurance industry and former insurance regulator, Mr. Cashin’s deep knowledge of relevant law and practices derives from direct experience with each facet of the industry. His years of work as a broker, as in-house counsel to insurers/reinsurers, as an executive for insurance groups and intermediaries, and as a government regulator are detailed in the Reinsurance section of this website.
